Many of our visitors are interested in tracing family roots in the Rockbridge area. While our limited staffing prevents us from providing searches for visitors, we can offer these suggestions:

• Browse through the reference materials at Campbell House. Some of them, such as the Carmichael Map and accompanying index to Rockbridge County family names, are available for purchase. See our publications page.
• See the Historical Society materials housed in the Special Collections department at Washington and Lee University’s Leyburn Library.  The Special Collections Department also has extensive resources for Genealogical Research.
• Click here to visit the web site of the Rockbridge Area Genealogical Society (RAGS). Also see the RAGS materials at the Reference Desk of the Rockbridge Regional Library  If you are interested, RAGS may be able to do a fee-based genealogical search for you.
