The Society continues cataloging the Society's collection of historic artifacts and documents. Data on each item in the Society's collection is being assembled, reviewed, and prepared for entry into PastPerfect, our state-of-the-art museum software.

Would you like to "adopt" an item in our collection? Volunteers are still needed to collect, review, and organize the data for one or more objects. Give her a call at 463-5767.

This page will soon include a complete searchable database
of the Rockbridge Historical Society's artifacts

"Natural Bridge" Chair

A painting of Natural Bridge decorates this "fancy chair" which belonged to Margaret Junkin Preston, 1825-1850

Mary Moore Cradle

In 1784, Mary Moore was captured by Shawnee Warriors and sold into slavery in Canada. Six years later she was rescued and returned to Virginia. She suffered insomnia from the memories of her experiences, and this adult-sized cradle was made to help her sleep.
