Date: Monday November 26, 2012
Location: Nichols Engineering Building Auditorium, Virginia Military Institute
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Program: Ed Dooley, through the wonders of computer technology, will take us back to circa 1867, the time when Lexington was recovering from the Civil War, and give us a “virtual tour” of downtown Lexington. After extensive research on the buildings which then stood along our main streets, Dooley used the Google Sketchup program to recreate them in 3-D and color just as they appeared then. We will stroll in front of and around these homes and shops. Some, like the Nannie Jordan House, were demolished. Its destruction in 1939 led to the formation of the Rockbridge Historical Society. Others have been greatly altered.
Before the program: There will be a brief annual business meeting, along with the election of new officers. Please come hear our annual reports and vote with us.
